“You will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream”

- Jeremiah 17:8

Not all trees are planted in water. Perhaps, they are not conscious that they are planted in a loose surface that could easily let go of their grip. But somehow they were able to find means to survive, grow and flourish in a strange place they’ve never been. Like humans, others are aware that they are situated in a strange island while others are not. Others find means to grow and move on while others don’t. This is because based from my own observation and few experiences in life, people’s way of accepting things are different, it may be a no brainier trivia but somehow, it needs to dawn in everyone of us in order to realize it’s real essence. Surely, life is just simple if we learn to go on with its natural flow. We only make it harder when we deviate from what God desires. There may come a time that everything is breaking for us, but we have to realize that everyone has their own struggles in life and it’s just our turn to have our fair share. When we learn to overcome all of it, then that’s the time we are entitled to receive the joy of ecstasy. We have to master the value of acceptance in order for us to deeply form and extend our roots wherever we’re planted.

“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it”

- The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

This is so true for an average girl living a life full of love and happiness. It seems for her that the whole universe conspires in order to give her the ecstasy she’s longing to feel. She is pleased to wake up every morning embracing the light of the sun, hearing the music of the humming birds, and smelling the wonderful aroma of the green grass. It’s such an incomparable life to experience the magic of love; it’s amazing to be in love and it’s awesome to be loved. For her, being whole and complete means having her other half fill the empty space in her life that has long been left untouched. A young and promising love was one of the greatest feelings she had ever felt. Uncertainty and doubt was never a hindrance to her journey with the one who brings brilliance to her eyes. With him, she seems to create an idealistic world where all of her dreams are turned into reality. She’s living in a dimension of fantasy where happy endings always close the story. During those times, she desired to absorb every fraction of her life; she would masticate slowly, tasting the real essence of the moment before swallowing it to be buried in her field of memories. Everything she wants to see was unfolded right in front of her naked eyes. Everything she wants to hear was slowly transmitted by the music beats inside her ears. Everything she wants to feel was transported by her veins to her expectant heart. Her being is like a universe with sun as the master dominating the solar system with a light of positive vision. Everything was in accordance to what transpires as she close her eyes. An abundant of love was shed by the people surrounding her. She got everything she wants because she truly made herself deserving of the blessings showered by God. Perhaps, perfection is the best word to describe her present world.

However, her picture perfect life then was far from what lies beneath…

“Everyone finds themselves in situations they do not deserve”
- Warrior of the Light by Paulo Coelho

A fire, a fire lies beneath her picture perfect life, running at the middle to tear apart the happiest moments of her days. It’s a sudden, drastic and fearful turning point of her supposed to be wonderful journey.

She never knew that a fire was starting to crawl silently, to burn her fondest field of memories. The one who created the brilliance of her eyes shut it down to darkness. Her world collides as her heart failed to seek redemption. All she did was to love, and yet the love she shared, the love she took care of and the love that was inspired by God was put into the grave of a the living, struggling for life. It amazes her how all of a sudden, what someone stands for drastically bent itself to deviate from the original path it has to take. What’s happening at the moment is far from what she dreamed of. It’s hard to see and feel right in front of her the reality she never desired. She wondered why she was treated unfairly in spite of her unconditional love. Questions are running in her veins, questions with answers that are capable of crumbling her heart. Silence is her means of finding solace, but every now and then, she’s interrupted by the sound of the real world. She couldn’t understand that strange feeling, struggling to open the gates of her silent heart. It’s like a bad dream she wants to end, like a wave she wants to conquer and it’s like God she wants to question. But she never did. Instead, she asked the wind to carry God’s graces as source of her strength; a strength that is slowly reaching the tip of its ability.

And then she developed pain, but never hatred.

“If only I could tear out my heart and hurl it into the current, then my pain and longing would be over, and I could finally forget”

- By the River Piedra I sat down and wept by Paulo Coelho

She wished she could find the river Piedra in order to end up the pain dominating her being. If surviving is as simple as that, then she could go on with her life to search for a new world. Nights are spent awake enduring the pain until it drains. Her heart is in unstable state trying to figure out if it still has the capacity to live. She was down and lonely, having no one to share her tears with. Sometimes she doesn’t want to open her eyes for the vision of reality makes her afraid and miserable. She really have no idea what to do, she always assumed that everything was just a dream and that any moment, she’ll wake up and embrace happiness again. But it’s too long for a dream and too real for a reality. So, she would just sit in one corner and stare without even thinking. Silence lessens the grief but noise is better to hide the humming of sadness. She wanted to explode because she can not tolerate the misery her heart is experiencing. But all she could afford to do is to sit all alone, endure longer the pain and burry it at the bottom of her heart. All night she stares at the moon and stars wishing for something. If she could only turn the pain into moon and stars, then darkness will never reign. There were times when she wished she was upside down in order to prevent the tears from flowing. She never believed that such pain truly exist until she felt it for herself. If no words can compensate her undying love before, then no words can also equal the pain she experienced.

She loves to stay in the middle of the rain embracing the cold and heavy raindrops. She believed that it’s okay for her to receive the blessing of the rain because after, it will stop and set her free to run in the direction of her previous world. But what she believed was not true, her life then was a rainy season for rain never ceased to shower her. She walks slowly feeling the drops making her realize that it’s cold and raining. It took her long to grasp the idea that she has to shed herself from the rain. But when she did, the same feeling was continuously running in her being.

Her pain is the most painful pain she had ever felt in her entire life. It’s devastating to live each day carrying with her the same pains of yesterday. No matter how much effort she exerted to alter her feelings and thinking, as if the pain has a life of its own struggling, trying to come back to reach and touch her heart. She tried really hard to block the entry points of pain in her heart. But the harder she tried, the stronger the pain was.

Then she realized that pains people experience never dies, it’s just placed in the darkest corners of their heart waiting to be felt again.

“There are limits to human understanding”
- Veronika Decide’s to Die by Paulo Coelho

Yes, human brains are only up to a certain level of intellect, unless they continue to harness it and fill it with sensibility. When she experienced pain, she never blamed others, even those who caused it. Because she knew that humans are just humans, capable of causing pains. It only took her a long time to understand it. Also, she never questioned God for the short comings of her life. She gracefully and wholeheartedly accepted the pain that hurts a lot. Even if her pain made her understand life quite a bit, there are still important things beneath the shallow understanding that only God knows the explanation. She never thought of going deeper because she knew that whatever inexplicable thing that lies beneath the mystery, it is something that God aims for the good of his children. She would burry it in order to serve as her foundation to be a better person. She just let the misunderstandings between her and her life passed because she couldn’t find the answers anyway. She realized that there are things that we need to surpass without understanding its essence because that’s one of God’s ways in teaching us. She decided to continue her everyday life just letting it pass and letting her self feel what is to be felt.

That’s how she saw life during those troublesome times. There may be things that she couldn’t understand, but at least her heart doesn’t reach its limits for acceptance and love.

“But that wink contained many unspoken things”
- Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho

A heart that is true always finds its way to redemption. She closed her eyes to bring back the precious moments of her life. She saw the picture of her dream and previous world of reality. No matter how much she holds on, she loses the grip. It’s painful for her to just see it without feeling the feeling she felt then. She prefers to search for the eternal sunshine that could bring back time in order to cure her heart from pain. But her journey into the darkness made her realize so many things. It dawned into her that the darkest vision sometimes offers the most wonderful visuals in the world. It maybe real or not, but at least it gave a certain feeling of completeness. Because of this, wisdom and hope was made open in her heart again. She was able to understand that she cannot change the direction of the wind; she can just fly with it wherever she wants. It took her so much time and deeper understanding in order to let go and break free. It was hard but she conquered it. It was a bitter sweet moment because she finally understood why things are happening. The darkness let her experience the beauty of life and she realized that somehow, great things are left unseen. When she saw the most important things in the darkness, she decided that there’s no need to let it come out from her mouth. Instead, she considered her heart as the doer of her desires. Now, the burden in her heart is slowly melting into pieces bringing back her real being. She felt as if she’s still beginning to start a life and getting to know things on earth.

Sometimes you have to close your eyes for you to understand how the world turns.

“Defeat often knocks at the warrior’s door”
- Warrior of the light by Paulo Coelho

It dawned into her that she needs to accept failures in order to survive and see a better person out of her. Acceptance of rejection made her learn how to fight. Not to fight back for revenge but to fight in order to redeem oneself. The struggles she encountered made her a young woman after God’s own heart. Her indispensable faith continues to grow as she became vulnerable to changes crawling in her life. She is now more understanding and receptive of all the graces showered by God. She considered everything as God’s instrument in making her better. Perhaps, its God’s way of showing his love. She had a better vision of life when she took again the path she deviated before. She realized that turning points are not there to mislead you; it serves as your guide to the right path God has prepared for you.

“When you learn how to die, you learn how to live”
- Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom

She understood that all people die in their own little means. You have to experience being burned in the rain, freeze in the dessert, drowned in the sky and thrown under water in order to find solace and peace in your heart. Because when people die, they find ways to live again when they do not like what they see when they’re dead. Or when people realized the value of life, they struggle to fight back their abandoned life. After their triumphant journey, they will be rewarded to live again because they were able to realize what its like to be lifeless. Surely, those who die, always find their life back if the choose to. It is only when you die that you learn how to live.

“All Endings are Beginnings”
- The five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom

Only those who have wisdom can discover new roads. When a road closed in her life, a new one opened. A new road that may also have a lot of turning point, but surely it is a new road full of hopes. When she faced dead ends, she never stopped. Instead, she passed by it by all means to reach what’s next to it. When she overcomes it, she is challenged to track a new road, a new beginning started by a worthy ending. Everything has to end because something else has to begin. She wholeheartedly accepted the ending of this chapter in her life. She keeps all the memories of hardships and pains but never let it actually hinder her dreams and brand new journey. She believed that holding into it won’t make her better and she couldn’t move on to discover other meaningful journeys God has made for her.
“Each of us was in your life for a reason”
- The five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom

Her world is not one at all; she has a wonderful world with different people who unconditionally love her. She turned back to the love offered by her family, friends and most of all God. Those love never left her, never gave her pain, sorrow and grief. All those love gave her happiness and freedom. It’s just her who failed to see and feel it when a new love deceives her. Truly, the consistent love showered to her didn’t fill the empty spaces in her heart, because those love never left, it is just there waiting to be felt and touched. When she touched the true love she deserves, she saw herself complete and meaningful again.

Because of the experiences she had, she learned to value love more than anything else. She also decided to live by the principle that love is not always in the form of a man; it’s such a myopic view to put it that way. Love takes different forms and love can be experience by anyone, anywhere and anytime.

Her world of reality now may not exactly what she dreamt of, but at least love never took away her freewill to dream.

“Things happen before you are born still affects you. And people who come before your time affect you as well”

- The five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom

Life is a series of connection, what happens to your life affects the life of the others. What happened to the life of those people who hurt her affects her. And it don’t just cost pain, its one of the essential factors that made her a good, better and best person she can ever be. She was thankful to God because she was given struggles, trials and challenges in her life. Now she learned how to fight and be freed. She considered pain as a challenge and she needs it to survive. It is vital for her because it made her better and even stronger. She just put in mind that pains just stay in the corners of our heart, waiting to be felt. Because of the experiences God gave her, she realized a lot of things about life. And of course, she also learned a lot about love. Love doesn’t come and go, it just stays in the corners of our heart waiting to be felt as well. Now, she is a stronger woman with a growing and truthful faith. She may not be that experienced in life and in love but she is always open to shoulder the pains again.

Surviving life doesn’t end in living it, it starts in understanding it.
